WGSS Graduate Teaching Assistantships
Application (deadline 1 February 2010)
The interdisciplinary program Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies will be hiring 2.5 full time GTAs for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011, and 2 full time GTA positions for Summer 2010 (June or July). GTAs will teach WS 201: an Interdisciplinary Introduction. They may also be able to develop a WS course related to their own area of interest.
Salary -- Summer 2009 about $2900; 2009-2010 dependent on budget allocations.
Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies and/or Master's degree
preferred.
Please submit the following (deadline: Monday, 1 February 2010)
Applicants who have taught for WGSS before should include:
- a letter outlining your interest in teaching for WGSS, your qualifications (including research and courses taken, and approach to teaching), and a statement indicating how many semesters you have already taught for KU.
Applicants who have not taught for WGSS should include
the
above (including the statement indicating how many semesters you
have
already taught for KU),
plus:
- curriculum vitae (résumé)
- syllabus of a Humanities / Social Science course that you have taught, if available
- teaching evaluations, if available
- two letters of recommendation
Applicants interested in teaching a special topics course (WS 396) should also include:
- a paragraph-length, bulletin-style description of the special topic you would like to teach, and a paragraph about your preparation for teaching it
Applicants are also encouraged to submit other materials to strengthen the
application (e.g., a graduate course paper on a WGSS subject).
